Blog project
There are two goals for this project. The first is for you to learn to do the basics of blogging. The second is for you to employ those toward your own ends.
Everyone created a blog in class, on Blogger. In addition, to complete this project, you will need to:
- After selecting a template, customize the background color and text color. The Blogger fonts and colors page describes how to do this.
- Add a link list, add another page element, and populate these with data. The Blogger layout guide includes information on adding page elements.
- Write a post containing a link. Some web browsers, like Firefox, can do this using Blogger's link tool. On all browsers you can create links by typing the appropriate HTML into a post. The W3 Schools site has a good page on HTML for linking.
- Write a post containing a picture. Again, some web browsers will give you access to Blogger's picture posting tools. But there's also HTML for images.
- After you've learned to do all the above, try to stop thinking about your blog as a piece of technology and start thinking of it as a piece of communication. Go back and write posts that mean something to you (but still at least one with a link and one with an image), choose colors that fit with your blog's tone, and so on. Write a final post about why you've made those decisions.
- Email your blog URL to nwf [at] ucsd [dot] edu.
- Don't forget to also blog an agenda item, based on the readings, before our next class meeting.
